Sophia Kudjordji is a senior public relations expert and multi-award winning communications leader with a strong track record of building the function and teams at some of Ghana’s leading organisations. She is the Chief Corporate Communications Officer (CCCO) at Jospong Group of Companies, one of Ghana’s most diversified holdings companies with over 60 businesses spanning 14 sectors and operating in Ghana, other African countries and Asia.

Sophia has over 25 years’ experience in the integrated marketing communication across media relations, Public Relations, reputation management, corporate communications, Branding and Journalism among others. She has worked with notable organisations including Ghana News Agency, Volta Region Community Water and Sanitation Agency(Consultant), British High Commission – Accra, UT Holdings (overseeing seven companies) and currently, Jospong Group of Companies.

Under Sophia’s watch at Jospong Group of Companies, one of the subsidiaries focused on waste management is now established as a thought leader in environmental sanitation. She has also profiled the Group, its subsidiaries and key management members to win awards both within and outside Ghana. Across her career journey, she has initiated several impactful communication projects and helped in setting up a Corporate Affairs and Marketing Department which grew to have a Group head with three Managers and ten officers. She has also led communications for a merger and led the media campaign for change of Corporate Identity and launched a successful Initial Public Offer and listing on the Ghana Stock exchange.

Sophia believes in impacting the next generation of Communicators and Public Relations practitioners, she is therefore involved in mentorship programmes (both local and international) and a speaker at conferences and workshops particularly for young people. She has also been profiled for Television(Obaa Mbo-TV Africa), radio (Leaders Board- YFM) and newspapers including the Pan African Bilingual Corporate and the Marketing World Magazines as well as B&FT of Ghana.

Following her remarkable work over the years, she has received over 10 notable recognitions.

These include the Corporate Communications Personality of the Year 2021: Corporate Communications Professional of the Year 2020; Global “Woman of Worth Achiever” from the World Women Leadership Congress and Awards, India –2021: “PR Professional of the Year, 2019”, one of “West Africa’s Top 20 Marketing & Communications Professionals”– 2019-InstinctWaves-World Marketing Award; One of Ghana’s top 10 Women in Public Relations- in 2019 and 2020Most Promising Public Relations Practitioner in 2012.

She is one of three Ghanaian Public Relations Professionals invited by International Public Relations Association to serve as judges for the 2020 Golden World Award.

Sophia has an MBA in Leadership and Sustainability from the University of Cumbria, United Kingdom, a Master’s degree in Development Communication from the Ghana Institute of Journalism and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology & Psychology from the University of Ghana Legon. She has also earned Professional Diploma and Professional Postgraduate qualifications in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, United Kingdom as well as a Diploma in Journalism (Journalism, Public Relations) from the Ghana Institute of Journalism. Sophia is an Accredited member of the Institute of Public Relations in Ghana. Chartered Institute of Marketing in Ghana, International Public Relations Association (Member of the Climate Change Chapter), African Public Relations Association and Ghana Journalists’ Association.
